Zaila S. Souther, 96, died April 4 in the Highlands at Wyomissing.

Her husband, Channing W. Souther Jr., died March 1, 1968.

Born in Superior, Wis., she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Hattie (Kuphal) Seguin.

Souther was employed as an English teacher in the Norwood (Mass.) School District, until her retirement.

She was a 1928 graduate of Smith College, Northampton, Mass.

Surviving are a son, Channing, Scituate, Mass.; and a daughter, Barbara (Souther) Wittenberg, Clifton, N.J.

Other survivors include two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be April 16 at 1 p.m. in the Forest Hills Cemetery Chapel, Jamaica Plain, Mass. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
