William Walter "Zimmy" Zimmerman, 66, of Spring Township and formerly of West Reading, died February 4, 2008 in the Reading Hospital.
He was the widower of Nancy Marie (Oswald) Zimmerman, who died January 12, 2008.
Born in Centre Township, PA on November 19, 1941, he was a son of Mamie Anna (Day) Zimmerman of Ontelaunee Township and the late William Franklin Zimmerman.
He was a 1959 graduate of Perry High School.
Zimmy was employed as a machinist for 33 years with Goss Graphic Systems, Wyomissing, retiring in 1997.
He was a former member and business manager at the West Reading Fire Company where he also served with the Fire Police and was active his entire life with several other local fire companies.
Zimmy loved cooking Sunday morning breakfasts while camping.
He is also survived by two daughters; Kellie Ann wife of Jeffrey L. Ashman and Jody L. Zimmerman-Turner wife of Dennis W. Turner, Jr., all of Muhlenberg Township.
Other survivors include four siblings; Ronald J. of Centerport, Carol A. Meredith of Ontelaunee Twp., Russell B. of Centre Twp., and Jeffrey B. of Ontelaunee Twp.
There are also three grandchildren; Amanda K. Ashman, Alex T. Ashman and Zach B. Turner.
Services will be Saturday at 10am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, with the Rev. Roderick Sutliff officiating. A viewing will be held Friday 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
