William T. Hill, 83 of Hamburg, PA and Salem, South Carolina died August 25, 2017 in Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, SC. Bill was born in Tilden Township and was the son of the late Jacob W. and Agnes A.I. (Brobst) Hill. He was a 1952 graduate of Perry High School and obtained a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, 1957, (Wharton School of Finance & Commerce). He was a co-founder of Hill Manufacturing Company in 1960 and was the Secretary & Treasurer from 1960 to 1992. Bill was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church, Perry Township where he served on Church Council for 15 years, was congregation treasurer, a member of the church choir and choir director for 10 years. He was a member of the Hamburg Exchange Club where he served as President from 1973-74, and was a past board director and past secretary. William was a member of Vaux Lodge #406 F & AM, Hamburg where he held the following offices: Worshipful Master, 1966, treasurer 1984-1988, secretary 1989-1991, Vice Principal 7 th Masonic District School of Instruction 1967-1991, past President and past secretary-Vaux Masonic Temple Association. Bill was an active member of the 4 Bodies Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Reading (Lodge-Council-Chapter-Consistory). He was Thrice Potent Master of Reading Lodge of Perfection from 1970 to 1971, a member of the Reunion Degree Team and Coroneted Honorary 33 Degree Mason for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction A.A.S.R. in 1978 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Additional memberships are Rajah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest #32 –Reading and a member of the concert and marching band of both. William was a member of Excelsior Chapter # 237- Reading where he served as Most Excellent High Priest, secretary and Lehigh Valley Joshua Association and Creigh Council # 16 Thrice Illustrious Master. Bill was active with the Reading Commandery # 42-Reading serving as Eminent Commander from 1975-76 and with the Knights of the York Cross of Honor-Penn Priory # 6 by virtue of serving as Presiding Officer of all four of the York Rite Bodies. William was a member of the following affiliated Masonic Bodies: Red Cross of Constantine-Reading, York Rite College # 11, Shamokin, Research Lodge # 2- Des Moines, Iowa, the Philalethes Society and The Royal Order of Scotland. Bill was an active golfer and a member of the Schuylkill Country Club since 1965 and was past Club Champion in 1980 and 1984 and a member of the Keowee Key Country Club since 1986, Salem, S.C. and was a member of the USGA. He enjoyed bowling at the Central Bowl, Hamburg and served as secretary-treasurer for the Wednesday Night League for 20 years. Bill is survived by his Aunt Esther and Uncle Harold Derr, Hamburg and several cousins.
