William J. Roth

William J. Roth, 73, of Reading, died September 26, 2011 in Reading Hospital.

He was the companion of Ruth Billman for 30 years.

Born in Shamokin, he was a son of the late William F. and Kathryn M. (Neary) Roth.

He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1957.

Bill was employed by Carpenter Technology for over 35 years until his retirement.

He was very creative and loved building model airplanes, boats and cars. He was a compassionate and kind hearted person and especially loved animals. Bill had a great wit and loved to tell a good story.

A wonderful, loving and supportive father, he is survived by his three daughters, Maria K., wife of Scott R. McDevitt, Stony Creek; Michele E. Graul, Cocoa Beach, FL; and Karla A., wife of Roy L. Lewars, Sinking Spring. There are two siblings, Kathryn A. Harvey, Horsham; and Robert, husband of Jacqueline Roth, Sinking Spring; three grandchildren, Adam J. Roth, Jessica L. Lewars and Sarah K. McDevitt; and one great granddaughter, Ayana Marie Roth. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be private in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
