William A. Miller

William A. Miller, Sr., 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in his Hamburg residence. He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (McCarroll) Miller, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra (Sparr) Miller, the loving mother of his sons: William, Jr., David, and Rick.

Born in Allentown, William (Bill) was the son of the late Edwin T. and Rose M. (Buff) Miller. After graduating from William Allen High School (Class of 1959), he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for more than three years as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He took great pride in his service and the opportunity it gave him to travel internationally, including being stationed in Okinawa and the Philippines.

Following his military service, Bill worked on the security team for Bethlehem Steel, where he was known as "plant patrol." After the factory's closure, he continued his career in maintenance for Lehigh County's Cedarbrook Nursing Home. He was also an EMT and had the honor of being requested to work with the Secret Service detail for presidential visits in Pennsylvania.

Bill was a man who deeply valued the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and birdwatching. He took great joy in watching his grandchildren grow and spending quality time with his family. Every summer, he would take his children down the shore and go camping, creating treasured memories that will live on in their hearts. Bill was also known for his annual trips to Disney World with Nancy and their family, which brought him great happiness. He was an honest and loyal person and a best friend to many. His kindness and steadfastness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons: William A. Miller, Jr. of Allentown, David A. Miller of Portland, ME, and Rick A. Miller (Jennifer) of New Jersey; stepsons: Michael Weiner and Mark D. Weiner (Jamie), both of Bethlehem; stepdaughter, Laura J. Albus (Greg) of Topeka, KS; grandchildren: Aiden Miller, Isabella Miller, Max Miller, Devin Weiner, Andrew Silberman (Rebecca), Ryan Albus, and Katelan Albus; two great-grandchildren: Drew Silberman and Beckett Silberman; and brothers: Edwin T. Miller (Nancy) of Allentown and Kenneth Miller of Fogelsville.
