William V. McStay, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully, January 21, 2010 in his West Reading residence. He died from complications of Cholangiocarcinoma.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marian (Thren) McStay.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William V., Sr. and Mina (Baral) McStay.
He graduated from Northeast High School, Philadelphia in 1937 and in 1939 he received a Third Engineer's license upon graduation from the Pennsylvania Nautical School, a Merchant Marine training facility.
Bill retired from CNA Insurance Company in 1980 and from the Factory Mutual Engineering Insurance Company in 1985. He was employed by both of these companies as a Loss Prevention Specialist.
He was a U.S. Navy Full Lieutenant veteran, serving in WWII.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Jeanne M. McStay, Baltimore, MD; Laurie M. Bailey, Pensacola, FL and Carol E. McStay, Reading. There are several nieces and nephews also surviving.
He was predeceased by his much loved grandson, Dan Bailey, in 2005.
He was also predeceased by his brother, Robert McStay and his sister, Eleanor McStay.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
