William H. "Bill" MacKay, 77, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away July 9, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital, after a courageous fourteen month battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
He was the loving husband of Nancy L. (Ostrowski) MacKay. They were married on September 22, 1998.
Bill was a son of the late Howard W. and Hannah M. (Finnin) McKay.
He was a graduate of Upper Merion High School.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany during 1961-1963.
He was employed in human resources for Vernon Graphics for 34 years. He later worked for Henkels and McCoy as an assistant area manager.
Bill was a humble, kind and hardworking man who also had the ability to retain information that was helpful in his personal and professional career.
He was an avid sports fan, following all Philadelphia sports teams.
Bill enjoyed golf; and was proud to accomplish two holes in one. He also enjoyed bowling and traveling to Myrtle Beach and Florida.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law, and older brother who will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by one son, William H. MacKay, Jr., Eagleville; one step-son, John C., husband of Valerie Marmo; two granddaughters: Vita C. Marmo and Aria E. Marmo, all of Lower Alsace Township and one brother, George D., husband of Patty A. MacKay, Virginia Beach, VA. One nephew, Daniel H. MacKay, Richmond, VA; two nieces: Melanie M. Clay, Coeburn, VA and Kelly E. Rogers, Kingsport, TN. His in-laws, Daniel S. husband of Helen M. Ostrowski, both of Reading also survive him.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502.
