William John Lucas

William John Lucas, 68, of Wyomissing, died March 20, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the Emergency Room at the Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Linda A. (Huyett) Lucas, whom he married January 16, 1982.

Born July 28, 1940 in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Anthony F. and Julia D. (Fox) Lucas.

William was a 1958 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1963 graduate of St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia, where he received a degree in accounting.

He was employed as an accountant and public auditor at Ernst and Whinney, Reading; Controller at VF Corporation, Wyomissing and was CFO and treasurer at R.M. Palmer Company, Reading, retiring in December 2004.

William was a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for many years.

He loved to spend weekends in the Pocono's.

William served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, surviving are five children: Cathleen M. (Lucas), wife of Richard L. Bitler of Spring Township; Stephen J., husband of Marian C. (Cardiff) Lucas of Spring Township; Matthew D. Lucas of Spring Township; Paul H., husband of Jessica (Weinman) Danneberg of Seattle, WA; and Eric E., husband of Lynn M. (Moyer) Danneberg of South Heidelberg Township.

Other survivors include two brothers, Joseph A., husband of Helen L. Lucas of Kenhorst and Brother Christopher Lucas of Abbey of Gethsemani, Trappist, KY and a sister Ellen M. (Lucas) McGrath of Spring Township.

There are five grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Hoover, Sadie Danneberg, Adele Bitler and Joel Woelfle.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Alban's Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, in the church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township.
