William H. Keeler

William Harry Keeler, Sr., 88, a resident of the Country Meadows, Wyomissing and formerly of Oak Terrace, West Reading, died June 30, 2011 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the widower of Kathryn (Bricker) Keeler, who died December 17, 2002.

Born March 1, 1923 in Reading, PA., he was the son of the late William C. and Helene M. (Spangler) Keeler.

He was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School.

William was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Reading.

He was employed 40 years with the Reading Eagle Company, retiring as a pressman in 1985.

William was a past president and vice-president of G.C.I. Union Local #160.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and was a member of U.S. Navy Club Ship #258 and a life member of VFW Post #8795, Adamstown and the Veterans Fireman Association of Reading Hose Company.

William was also a member of Masonic Lodge #549; Golden Eagles Seniors; West Lawn Seniors; Salvation Army Golden Age; Muhlenberg Prime Timers; Muhlenberg Volunteer Home Care and Topton Ready Ride.

He is survived by three children: William H. Keeler, Jr., of Bluewater Bay, Florida; David, husband of Pamela J. (Fox) Keeler of Pennside and Ellen L. (Keeler), wife of Craig D. Focht of St. Lawerence.

Other survivors include seven grandchildren: Dr. Jarrod A., husband of Lili Keeler; Zachary N. Keeler; Caitlin L. Keeler; Allison M. Keeler; Sarah H. (Focht), wife of Jesse Gibney; Louise E. Focht and Celeste A. Focht; two step-grandchildren: Vicki L. (Eisele) Baer and Timothy A., husband of Melanie Eisele and four step great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, with the Rev. Robin Henry officiating. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 8:30 am until time of services. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.
