William John Schaeffer

William John Schaeffer, 65, a longtime resident of Berks Heim, Bern Township and formerly of Reading died on February 22, 2008 at 12:40 p.m.

He was the husband of Peggy Ann (Loehrig) Schaeffer of Reading.

Born January 7, 1943 in Reading, he was a son of the late Robert Jay Schaeffer and Rose Jane (Galt) Schaeffer.

William was an entrepreneur his whole life, owning many different buisnesses throughout Reading.

Also surviving are five children: Denise (Scheffer), wife of Robert Ely of Wyomissing; Peggy A. Schaeffer of Laureldale; Melisa (Schaeffer) Guldin of North Carolina; Margaret F. (Schaeffer), wife of Russell Baver of Shillington and John W., husband of Sherry C. (Peterson) Schaeffer of Port Carbon, PA.

In addition there is a twin brother, LeRoy D., husband of Aprile L. (Schlaybach) Schaeffer of Oley and a sister Carolyn (Schaeffer), wife of Helmut Shartelmuller.

There are seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter also surviving.

He was predeceased by a brother Robert J. Schaeffer.

Services will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
