William John Rentschler, 87, was pronounced dead April 12, 2007 at 10:05 am in his Alsace Township residence.
He was the husband of Ellen C. (Miller) Rentschler. His first wife, Helen A. (Babb) Rentschler, died in 1958.
Born April 5, 1920 in Reading, he was a son of the late Willis and Edna (Hartman) Rentschler.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.
William was employed 25 years as a machinist for the former Auto Part Co., Reading, working the last 10 years as the machine shop foreman.
He later worked a number of years as a machinist with Reading Mack, Muhlenberg Township.
William was a lifetime member and trustee for 15 years with the Neversink Gun Club.
He is also survived by a son, Donald P. widower of Betty J. (Wagster) Rentschler of Seattle, Washington.
Other survivors include a step-daughter, Barbara A. (Shade) wife of Ray Young of Fleetwood.
There are also two step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a step son, Donald C. Shade, who died in 1997 and a step grandson, Donald J. Shade, who died in 1979.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale with the Rev. Lynda Elmer officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township.
