William J. Pennypacker

William Jay Pennypacker, Sr., 86, of Muhlenberg Township, died August 23, 2011 in Berks Heim, Bern Township.

He was the husband of Louise E. (Runyeon) Pennypacker whom he married June 14, 1974.

Born December 3, 1924 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Charles B., Sr. and Mildred (Caswell) Pennypacker.

William was a 1943 graduate of Coatesville High School. He also graduated as a pilot from the Army Air Force.

He was employed as chief pilot with Boyertown Body works for 15 years, and subsequently, in the same capacity, with VF Corporation, Wyomissing for 23 1/2 years, retiring in 1994.

William was a past flight instructor at various air fields. He was a member of F & A.M. Lodge #310, Collegeville, a member of Scottish Rite Masons, Allentown and Reading Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #251. He was also a past member of Rajah Shrine for over 50 years.

Surviving are two children: Margaret J. (Pennypacker), wife of W. Raymond Ford of Ponte Vedra, FL and William J. Pennypacker, Jr. of Collegeville, Montgomery County.

Other survivors include two step-children: Brooke B., husband of Donna L. (Grube) Blatt of Hamburg and Mark K. Blatt of Spring Township.

In addition, there is a sister, Anne Elizabeth (Pennypacker), widow of James Conway of Maryville, TN.

There are four step-grandchildren: Matthew B., Jennifer L., Lauren A. and Jordan L. Blatt.

William was predeceased by two brothers, Charles B. Pennypacker, Jr. and John Pennypacker.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. A visitation will be held one hour prio to services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
