William J. Haines, Sr., 92, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away April 29, 2022, in the Reading Hospital Rehab.
He was the beloved husband of the late Anna P. (Bainbridge) Haines, with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.
William was the son of the late Kenneth and Anna (Price) Haines.
He was a graduate of Frackville High and The Wyomissing Polytechnical School where he received his Associates in Engineering.
William was a United States Army veteran, serving as a military police officer during the Korean War.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed nature and the outdoors. Bill always enjoyed a game of cards with his family. Most important to Bill was his adoring family. He was so proud of his five generations and their loving family.
William is survived by his two daughters, Deborah A., wife of Robert Gerhard and Marilyn L., wife of Craig Sherman; and his daughter-in-law, Sandi Haines. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren: Melanie, Robb, Jennifer, Ashley, Matt, Lisa, Lauren, Billy, Michele, Sara and Sean; 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and his good friend Jeanette Hunsberger aka "my girlfriend."
He was predeceased by his son, William J. Haines Jr., and his three siblings: MaryJane Schaeffer, Alma Straub, and Kenneth Haines.
A prayer service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 5153 Kutztown Rd., Temple, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery with military honors. A viewing will be held Monday, May 2, 2022 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
