William A. "Bill" Garlow, 80, South Manheim Township, Schuylkill County, passed away Sept. 6 at his residence in the hands of his loving family. Bill and his wife, Kathryn Y. (Yurick) Garlow, of South Manheim Township, were married for 56 years.
Born in the Panama Canal Zone, he was a son of the late William A. and Amanda (Schneider) Garlow.
Bill worked as an environmental engineer for Gilbert Associates for 25 years. He worked for the Environmental Department of the District of Columbia for 15 years.
He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, receiving his bachelor's degree in 1949 and his master's degree in engineering in 1951.
He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
Bill was a very dedicated Philadelphia Phillies fan and also a Penn State Nittany Lions fan.
He is also survived by three sons: Tom A. Garlow, Lower Heidelberg Township; Will Garlow, Baltimore; and Dr. Steve Garlow, Decatur, Ga.; and a daughter, Ann A. Garlow, Washington, D.C.
Other survivors include six grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Bill's name. There will be no services. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
