William G. Smith

William G. Smith, 80, of Reading, passed away February 29, 2020, at Reading Hospital.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carol A. (Lacknoe) Smith.

Born in Boston, MA, he was a son of the late Grace Cockerill Smith and Norman James Smith, Sr.

He was a graduate of Council Rock High School, Newtown, PA in 1957, and Penn State University in 1962, earning a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

For 39 years he served the U.S. Navy in Civilian service reaching the title of Technical Director for the Naval Air Technical Services Facility in Philadelphia, retiring in 1996. He also served in his mid-thirties as a Petty Officer 2nd class in the Naval Reserve for 2 years.

Interests and hobbies included: cars, aircraft, history, and movies.

He is survived by his siblings, Beverly N. Belcher of Des Moines, WA and his brother and wife, Norman J. Smith, Jr. and Suzanne Smith of Bothell, WA.
