William Edward "Bill" Flocco, 57, of Shillington, joined his heavenly family on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019. Born September 20, 1961, in Elmont, NY, Bill was a son of the late Edward and Angela (Farina) Flocco, and grew up in Weston, CT.
Bill attended Gettysburg College, where he received a B.A. in Business Administration and a minor in Performing Arts. He proposed to his friend from high school, Leslie Lafayette, on Valentine's Day 1987, and they wed on Halloween of the same year. Bill and Leslie raised their sons Trevor and Matthew in Danbury, CT, during which time he worked for GE Capital.
In 2001, the Floccos moved to Reading, PA, where Bill continued to work for GE. In 2005, he received his teaching certification from Millersville University, and worked in various areas of technology education, business and customer service.
Bill was very involved in the Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts, loved dogs and jokes, and had a fierce passion for music. He performed in Weston High School's concert band and musicals, and derived joy from singing with the Gettysburg College Choir, St. Elizabeth Seton folk group, as a cantor at St. Ignatius, and most recently with Opus One in Reading.
In addition to his wife Leslie, Bill is survived by their sons Matthew and Trevor (fiancée Robin), his brothers Thomas (wife Mary), and David (wife Anne), as well as many dear family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 11:30 am, at St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Alban's Drive, Sinking Spring, PA. Friends may call Friday, February 1, from 5:30-7:30 pm at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, and Saturday, from 10:00-11:15 am at the church. Burial will be private.
Because of his history with cancer and brain tumors, Bill spent time in his final years working toward being a caregiver for other cancer patients. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bill's honor to the American Cancer Society at www.donate3.cancer.org.
