William Edward Mathewson, Jr.

William Edward Mathewson, Jr., 76, of Spring Township, died September 13, 2016, at the Reading Hospital.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late William Edward, Sr., and Miriam Frances (O'Neill) Mathewson.

He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1957, Penn State University in 1961, and Stetson University, De Land, FL in 1970.

William was employed by the Wilson School District as a band director and school counselor for 34 years, retiring in 1996. Previously he worked as a band director for Williamstown High School, and was the manager of the Lincoln Park Pool from 1979 to 1985.

He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield; and a former member of the Monarch Athletic Club.

William is survived by many family members and close friends.
