William C. Pennypacker

William C. Pennypacker, 87, formerly of Earlville, died Feb. 15 in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center, Wernersville, where he had been a patient since Jan. 15. He was taken there from Country Meadows, Wyomissing.

His wife, Ellen L. (Swope) Pennypacker, died Aug. 30, 2000.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Leo J. and Margaret (Gross) Pennypacker.

Pennypacker had been employed for 35 years as a railroad engineer by the Reading Co., retiring in 1975.

He was a member of St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church, Boyertown.

Pennypacker was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Reading, and the Pocono Beagle Club, Leesport.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. (Pennypacker) Forester, Wyomissing.

Other survivors include two sisters, Grace Pennypacker and Ruth (Pennypacker) Springer, both of Reiffton.

There also are three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
