William R. Boldt

William R. Boldt, 87, formerly of Fairview Avenue, Mount Penn, and Providence House, Reading, died Aug. 19 at Beverly Manor, Exeter Township, where he had resided since April 2.

His wife, Claire M. (Haggerty) Boldt, died March 11, 2000.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Robert and Catherine (Steigerwald) Boldt.

He was employed as a full-fashioned knitter for 20 years at Fashion Hosiery Co., Boyertown, until 1977, and for three and a half years at Boyertown Hosiery Co., retiring in 1980.

Boldt was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mount Penn.

Boldt is survived by a son, Erich W., Hamburg; and three daughters: Mary Louise (Boldt) Deissler, Pennside; Sandra M. (Boldt) Post, Wyomissing; and Kathleen J. Boldt, Sugarland, Texas.

Other survivors include two brothers, Kenneth, Hamburg; and Carl, Shillington; and two sisters, Catherine (Boldt) Bickel and Elizabeth Boldt) Barth, both of Reading.

There are also 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Chapel, Mount Penn. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park , Exeter Township. Edward Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
