William L. Becker

William L. Becker, 91 of Shoemakersville died May 20, 2018 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Township. He was the husband of Mildred M. (Kramer) Becker who died March 29, 2012. Bill was born in Schuylkill Haven and was the son of the late Lewis H. and Kathryn A. (Burkhart) Becker. Bill graduated from Perry High School in 1944 and was Class President and a 1951 graduate of Gettysburg College. Bill was a United States Air Force Veteran of WWII serving in the 509 th Bombardment Group of the 1 st Air Force. Bill was employed by Meridian Bank for 36 years as a lending officer and branch manager and retired in 1987. Bill was a lifetime member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville where he served as a council member and Sunday school teacher. He was a life member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company and former Vice-President and trustee, and of Kunkle-Woerner Post 8425 VFW, Shoemakersville. Bill was a former President of Ebenezer Cemetery Company, Shoemakersville Senior Citizens Memorial Committee, a former member of Perry Golf Seniors, Shoemakersville Borough Council (18 years), and Shoemakersville-Leesport Rotary Club 30 years. Bill is survived by his son, Richard L husband of Sharon E. (Stetzler) Becker, Hamburg, and one sister, Marylou B. (Becker) wife of Donald P. Saul, Shoemakersville and was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth J. Becker. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., Hamburg. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery with military honors accorded by Ray A. Master Post #217.
