Willard S. Matz

Willard S. "Butch" Matz, 86, formerly of 3437 Marion Street, Laureldale, died August 6th at 10:32 am in Berks Heim where she had been since August 15, 2003.

He was the widower of Dorothy C. (Spohn) Matz, who died September 27, 1994.

Born in Mohnton, he was a son of the late Charles Albert and Clara Alice (Hoffert) Matz.

He worked as a machine setter for 22 years at Western Electric, Reading until retiring in 1983.

Matz was an Army Veteran of WWII where he received five bronze stars and a purple heart.

He was the founder of Faith Ministerial Association in Laureldale, for which he headed for 25 years.

Matz was also a co-pastor of The Lighthouse Gospel Center, Inc., Reading for a number of years.

He is survived by a sister, Ethel (Matz) DiTullo of Reading.

Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Viewing Wednesday 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery.
