Wendy Rose Matthews

Wendy Rose Matthews, 59, passed away in her Maidencreek Township residence on May 2, 2014.

Born in Phoenixville, she was the daughter of the late John and Evelyn (Hanson) Matthews.

Wendy was a graduate of Phoenixville High School, earned her Bachelor's degree from Cabrini College and her Master's degree in social work from Marywood University.

She worked as a mental health therapist for Family Child Support Services for several years, last working in the Pottsville location.

Wendy was a member of The Parish of St. Columbkill, Boyertown.

She was an animal lover and will be greatly missed by her cats: Peaches, Isabella, and Luke, Newfoundland Bear and horse Flo.

Wendy enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, horseback riding, going to the beach and playing tennis. She cared about people and liked helping someone in need.

Survivors include her daughter, Evelyn Rose Szczepanek, Maidencreek Township, and granddaughter Lilly. She is also survived by a brother, John Matthews, husband of Virginia.

She was predeceased by her beloved cat, Thomas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament, 610 Pine St. Bally, PA 19503. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass. Burial will be in Most Blessed Sacrament Cemetery. Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Home, Oley is in charge of arrangements.
