Jerry Wayne Mellinger, 74, of Birdsboro, passed away at Reading Hospital on Sunday, June 14, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born to the late Francis and Vera (McNiss) Mellinger, Jerry was raised on a farm in Chester County, where he learned the value of hard work from an early age.
Jerry devoted 37 years of service as a welder with Cedarville Manufacturing. A skilled craftsman both at work and at home, he enjoyed tackling all kinds of mechanical projects in his spare time. Among his proudest accomplishments were two antique tractors that he painstakingly rebuilt and cherished. Jerry also had a passion for racing. He was an fan of NASCAR and especially enjoyed following flat track motorcycle racing.
Above all, Jerry treasured the 41 years he shared with the love of his life, Christina DeMarzio. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and lasting memories.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Christine DeMarzio; his son, Richard Mellinger and wife, Dawn, of Paradise; his daughters, Heather Mellinger of Christiana, Anne Mellinger of Birdsboro, and Becky Mellinger and husband, Justin, of Reading; his cherished grandchildren, Emilee Mellinger, Lucas Kauffman, Isabella Mellinger, Carter Fitzcharles, Jessica Kauffman, Silas Majors, and Atticus Majors; his sister, Beverly Cahall of Delaware; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Moore of Glenmoore; her daughters, Connie and Carol; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Mellinger, Donald Mellinger, and Jimmy Mellinger.
