Warren F. Schaefer

Warren Frederick Schaefer, 71, of Heidelberg Township, died December 1, 2011 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Joan Ruth (Bigony) Schaefer, whom he married September 6, 1969.

Born in West Reading on November 12, 1940, he was a son of the late Carl G. Schaefer and Fern S. (Miller) Schaefer-Kruppenbach. Warren was also the stepson of the late Paul L. Kruppenbach.

He was a 1958 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

Warren was a member of Mohn's Hill E.C.C.

He was employed with the United States Air Force as a Radar Maintenance and Quality Control Supervisor for 23 years, before retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1983.

Warren was later employed as a service technician with Copy World, Shillington from 1983 until 2001.

He is also survived by a son, SFC Michael W. Schaefer who is currently serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Sacramento, CA and two daughters: Debra J. Schaefer-Souder, wife of Stephen L. Souder of Tilden Township and Kastine Schaefer of Wernersville.

Other survivors include two siblings: Carlene (Schaefer), wife of John Haring of Mertztown and Troyce, husband of Carsa Kruppenbach of Exeter Township.

There are also six grandchildren: Brent, Brandon, Ameilia, Trinity, Samantha and Zachery.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:00 and Wednesday morning from 9:30 until the time of service. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
