Warren Lester Gieringer

Warren Lester Gieringer, 91, passed away July 21, 2013, in his daughter's Shillington residence.

He was married June 1, 1946 to Mary Antoinette (Mastrolia) Gieringer, who died June 16, 1995.

Born in Reading on February 6, 1922, he was a son of the late Samuel C. and Margaret L. (Keller) Gieringer.

He was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School.

Warren was employed for 25 years and 4 months as a pipefitter for Western Electric/AT& T, Muhlenberg Township, retiring in 1984.

He was also employed a number of years with Orr-Sembor of Reading.

Warren was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.

Warren was a member of American Legion Reber-Moore Post 635 for 56 years serving as past Commander and Sergeant of Arms. He was also a member of the Grill Fire Company; Spartaco Club; Canibal Club and St. Donato Club.

He was a life member of The National American Legion; VFW Adamstown; Hillside Associates; 18th Ward Democratic Club; Reading Berks Basketball Old-Timers; Telephone Pioneers of America and the National Chapter of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.

Warren is survived by three daughters, Francine L. (Gieringer), wife of C. Peter Gallagher, Herndon, VA, Lois M. (Gieringer), wife of Anthony G. Miller, Shillington and Ann G. (Gieringer), wife of Rick R. Feinour, Spring Township and his brother, Herbert L., widower of Helen M. (Groff) Gieringer, Laureldale.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Steven P. Gallagher, Julie L. (Gallagher) Majkowski, Leslie E. (Gallagher) Moylan, , Gregory W. Miller, David A. Miller, Timothy B. Miller, Patrick T. Miller, Jeffrey S. Miller, Anthony M. Miller, Keith D. Miller, Brianne P. Feinour and Tanner M. Feinour and 12 great-grandchildren.

Warren was predeceased by his granddaughter, Meredith Patricia Miller, who died May 3, 1979.

He was also predeceased by seven siblings: Julietta "Julia" Madara, Dorothy Albert, Loretta Sperber, Erma Baker, Wilson T. Gieringer, Miriam V. Gieringer and Samuel C. Gieringer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary R. C. Church, 237 Franklin St., Reading, PA, 19602. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Friends may call Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Contributions may be made to Holy Rosary R.C. Church at the above address or Berks Visiting Nurse Association, 1170 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610.
