Walter W. Burkett

Walter William Burkett, 88, passed away July 31, 2009 in his Laureldale residence.

His wife of 65 years, Mildred M. (Weikel) Burkett, died May 31, 2007.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Howard and Helen (Hinnershitz) Burkett.

Walter was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in France during WW II.

He was a welder with the Dana corporation for over 40 years, retiring in 1982.

Walter was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

He is survived by his daughter, Laraine Marie, wife of Timothy Hagans, Spring Township; his sister, Clair, widow of Richard Schultz, Bern Township; and his two grandchildren: Jennifer L. Daniels, Spring Township and Robert "Bud" R. Daniels III, Cranston, RI.

Walter was predeceased by two brothers: Forrest and Richard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels R.C.C., 3121 Kutztown Road, Muhlenberg Township. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call 9:30 - 10 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson Disease Association: 332 Gerard Ave., Elkins Park, PA 19027.
