Walter A. "D.J. Sonny" Shuker

Walter A. "D.J. Sonny" Shuker, 87, of Hamburg, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 18, 2025, at the Laurel Center.

He was the widower of Vivian (Manmiller Zweizig) Shuker, who died on December 15, 2023.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Florence (Marks) Shuker.

He was a 1958 graduate of Reading High School and attended Penn State University.

Sonny exemplified a strong work ethic throughout his career, which included many years at Firestone as a professional High Pressure Flush Operator. In addition to this role, he thrived as a DJ for 25 years, entertaining crowds with a diverse array of music that kept people dancing and laughing. Reflecting on his life, Sonny fondly remembered his years playing bass guitar and the enjoyable outings to jazz clubs with his son.

He is survived by his son, Brian, husband of Karen, Muhlenberg Township and his daughter, Lori, wife of Timothy, Exeter Township. Also surviving are his grandchildren Kyle Shuker, Lancaster; Melanie, wife of Joshua Chupak, Leesport; Chelsee, wife of Dean Guerrierie, Royersford and Alicia Overley, Exeter Township. A great-grandson is expected in November. His goddaughter, Nona, wife of Thomas Geiger, Shoemakersville also survives him.
