Walter M. Twardowski Walter M. Twardowski, 87, formerly of Wyomissing, died Oct. 31 at 5:46 p.m. in Mifflin Center, Cumru Township, where he had resided since September 2004.

His wife, Arlene D. (Whitmoyer) Twardowski, died Feb. 20, 2003.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Franckowiak) Twardowski.

Twardowski was employed for many years as a knitter by the Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing, last working in 1963 and was last employed for 20 years as a mail carrier by the Postal Service, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Twardowski was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a 1936 graduate of Reading High School.

Surviving is a daughter, Sylvia L. (Twardowski) Thomas, Wyomissing.

Other survivors include a sister, Anna (Twardowski) Miller, Wernersville.

There are also two granddaughters.

He was predeceased by a son, Sidney Twardowsi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
