Walter R. Boyer

Walter R. Boyer, 85, Exeter Township, died May 26 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since May 17.

His wife, Margaret S. (Brown) Boyer, died July 13, 2004.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William and Elsie (Fricker) Boyer.

Boyer had been employed for 42 years as a wire straightener by Carpenter Technology Corp., Reading, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading.

Boyer was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a life member of Reading Lodge 549, Free and Accepted Masons.

Boyer is survived by a daughter, Judith E. (Boyer) Rapp, with whom he resided.

Other survivors include a brother, Robert, Northmont.

There are also two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Wyomissing Cemetery, Gouglersville. Contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 2121 City Line Road Bethlehem, PA 18017.Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
