Visitacion L. Catalan, 80 of West Reading, died March 15, 2008 in Reading Hospital, where she had been for four days.
She was the wife of Crispin L. Catalan.
Born in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, she was a daughter of the late Hipolito Lazam, a former provincial judge and Alfonsa Aguino Danao.
She earned her Master's Degree in Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from Far Eastern University, Manila, Philippines.
Mrs. Catalan was the secretary for the Department of Commerce, Manila and later was the secretary for the U.N. Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East, Bangkok, Thailand, retiring in 1956.
Visitacion was a member of the Reading Hospital's Breast Cancer Survivor's Group.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.
Visitacion is also survived by her two sons, Philip L., husband of Linda, Union City, CA and Rudy L., husband of Lourdes, Valley Stream, NY; and her three daughters, Thelma C., wife of Paul Rusack, Dudley, MA; Janet C., wife of Glenn Knoblauch, Robesonia; and Felicidad C., wife of Robert Cardinal, West Reading. There are also two sisters, Dolores Basa, Justin, TX and Milagros Guernila, Bayombong, Philippines. Thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in Edward J.
