Virginia C. Thomas, 93, of The Highlands at Wyomissing, died January 16, 2010 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Her husband of 56 years, Howard D. Thomas, died June 4, 1996.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Vertner (Deupree) Crumb.

She graduated from the Western College for Women (currently Miami of Ohio University). Afterwards, she and Howard moved to Dayton, OH, and in 1991, they relocated to Wyomissing.

She was a member of Bausman Memorial U.C.C., Wyomissing.

Virginia loved bridge and was an accomplished musician. She devoted her life to her husband and sons.

She is survived by her sons: David C., husband of Terri Thomas, Chicago, IL and Dr. Peter H., husband of Karen Thomas, Wyomissing. There are four grandchildren surviving: Kristin, wife of Anthony Rutherford, Dubai, U.A.E.; Brian P. Thomas, husband of Elizabeth Naikelis, Collingswood, NJ; Andrew R. Thomas, Los Angeles, CA and Nicholas Thomas, Chicago, IL. Also surviving is one great-grandchild, Lachlan P. Rutherford, Dubai, U.A.E.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Carl Crumb and Betty Hammel.

Memorial Services will be Sunday, January 31 at 2 p.m. in Bausman Memorial U.C.C., Wyomissing. Inurnment will be in Charles Evans Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Virginia's memory to the American Red Cross, 701 Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601, please note in the memo of your check "Haiti", to aid the victims of the earthquake.
