Virginia (Gertler) Mathis, 90, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6 at Berks Heim. Born February 9, 1928 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late James Hunter and Mary J. (Kirley) Gertler.
A woman of great faith, Ginny was a devoted homemaker all of her life. Above all else, she cherished and adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved her hometown of Pittsburgh, the Steelers, and her extended family on Grouse Drive.
Ginny is survived by her daughter Heidi, wife of John Manley, of Astoria, NY, her son Dr. James Mathis, husband of Peggy, of Spring Township, and her brother Fred Gertler, of Allegheny County. Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Michael and Katie, and her great granddaughter Kallie.
She was predeceased by a son Lee, and two sisters: Marian Lenny and June Sterling.
Services will be private at the convenience of Ginny's family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to Berks Heim Nursing and Rehabilitation, P.O. Box 1495, Reading, PA 19603.
