Virginia Mae Snyder

Virginia Mae "Ginny" Snyder, 89, of Reading, passed away September 25, 2016, after a short illness. She was born in Topton to Arthur and Esther (Spayd) Reinsel. She was married to Thomas Snyder who passed away in 2002. The two of them loved traveling together to Montana and Florida to visit their grandchildren.

Ginny was a graduate of Hamburg High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Albright College and her master's degree from Kutztown University.

She loved being a guidance counselor for the Reading School District in the Riverside and Glenside Elementary Schools and made so many great friends doing that work. Ginny was the past president of the West Reading Jr. Women's Club and was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. For many years she was a volunteer at the Reading Hospital and she so enjoyed visiting everyone and only retired from doing that last year. Ginny was part of the pastoral care and prayer committee at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Being a member of the church gave her great joy. She enjoyed gardening at her townhouse and spending time with her special next door neighbors Nick, Becky and their two children Blake and Bryson who brought joy to her daily life. She always said you have to keep moving and she certainly did that every day with her enjoyment of all types of exercise. She loved traveling with her sister Anna, and they had many wonderful trips together. She loved being a part of all of the family celebrations with her sister in law Rosemarie Reinsel, her nephew Matt, his wife Allison Reinsel and their children Aaron and Evan, also her niece Tama McConnell and her children Blair and Tate along with her husband David McConnell. She was so happy with the time she got to spend with her niece Sandy Rowe.

The most important aspect of Ginny's life was her family, she is survived by those mentioned above and her children: Jim and Beth Snyder, Stuart, FL; and Ron and Sheila Snyder, Arlee, MT; a sister, Anna Miller, Temple; and the loves of her life her grandchildren: Cameron, Cole and Cody Snyder of Stuart, Florida; Dylan Snyder of Missoula, MT and Erin and Dan Chase of Boston, MA.

She was predeceased by one brother, Arthur Reinsel Jr.

She will be missed.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30 Liberty Street, Shillington, PA 19607. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
