Virginia Mary Lutz

Virginia Mary (Farrier) Lutz, 85, of Shillington, died December 26, 2014 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

Born August 18, 1929 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Irvin M. and Theresa (Wolfe) Farrier.

Virginia was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

A volunteer with The Red Cross, Virginia helped clean-up damage after Hurricane Agnes. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and loved doing for others.

Surviving are her two children: Frances B. John of Laureldale and Raymond H., III., husband of Anna M. Lutz of Cumru Township; her son-in-law, Barry Shanaman, Sr. of Suitland, MD and her brother, Peter Farrier of Mohrsville.

Also surviving are her eight grandchildren: Barry Shanaman, Jr., Christina Singer, Stacy Asbell, James John, Patrick Bauer, Timothy Bauer, Beth Ann Cassler and Raymond Lutz, IV and four great grandchildren.

Virginia was predeceased by her daughter, Lucy E. Shanaman who died July 18, 2009, her great granddaughter, Angel Bross and her two brothers, Paul Farrier and Thomas Farrier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 12:00 noon in St. Joseph R.C. Church, 1018 N. 8th Street, Reading. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the mass, in church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
