Virginia G. (Browne) Culbert, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother passed away on Sunday, September 27th at Berks Heim, where she resided for four years.
A native of Brooklyn, NY she, her husband, and family relocated to Philadelphia, PA in 1963. Her husband's position in Gulf Oil Corporation required this move. Previously employed by Chase Manhattan Bank in NYC she continued in banking at Fidelity Bank in Philadelphia. Upon the early death of her husband she remained in Philadelphia until her retirement. She then moved to Reading to be closer to her family.
Through her 100 years of life she loved spending her time with family and friends, and attended many celebrations. She enjoyed walking everyday and was also an avid bowler, reader. magnificent seamstress, cook, and volunteer.
This special lady enjoyed a celebration of 100 years of life surrounded by her family, friends, and Berks Heim "family" in February of this year. She was delighted to see grandchildren and great grandchildren from Virginia, Maryland, Seattle, and San Francisco.
She was predeceased by her husband, George A. Culbert, in 1970; her son, George A. Jr.; and two grandsons, Thomas Tingwall and Andrew Tingwall. Also surviving are her daughters, Viginia Tingwall, Reading; Patricia A., wife of James Grace, Springfield, VA; and Eileen F., wife of Dr. Paul N. LaFata, Wyomissing. Eleven grandchilden, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19608. Burial will be private on Friday, October 2nd. at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
