Virginia E. Christ

Virginia Ethel (Kelchner) Christ, 92, died February 15, 2012 in her Muhlenberg Township residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband, William Daniel Christ died April 22, 2009. They were married on January 10, 1938.

Born November 16, 1919 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Annie (Smigel) Kelchner.

Virginia was a 1937 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

She was employed as a secretary with Penn Maid Hosiery, Reading and for a number of years with East Penn Metals, Bern Township, retiring in 1984.

Virginia was a longtime member of Rosedale United Church of Christ, Laureldale.

She was an active member of Aquabilities, Birdsboro, where she went three times a week for over 10 years.

Surviving are three daughters, Faye F., wife of James F. Cochran; Marcia M., widow of Douglas K. Reinert and Cynthia C., wife of Carl A. Vesper, III, all of Muhlenberg Township.

Other survivors include six grandchildren: Judy Becker, Carol Schlott, Dale Cochran, Jennifer Pomante, Elizabeth Vesper and Julie Reinert and six great grandchildren: Jason Schlott, Jonathan Becker, Amy Schlott, Ashley Becker, Cheyenne Cochran and Brett Cochran.

Virginia was predeceased by three siblings: Florence Land, Augustus H. Kelchner and Kathryn E. Henn.

A loving, caring and generous woman, Virginia will be greatly missed by all.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
