Vincent Joseph Siminitus passed away on March 8, 2013 at Reading Hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania, having lived a full life of 87 years. Vince was born and raised in Minersville, PA. He served his country in the US Army infantry, including time as a WWII POW. Vince worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad/Conrail 41 years until his retirement in 1986. Throughout his work and retired life, Vince volunteered his expert handyman skills to help his children, friends and neighbors with their home remodeling and repair projects. He built many fine wood pieces for them that will serve as lasting memories of his talent and generosity. Polka dancing with his wife, Anna, and friends was a great source of joy in his and their lives.
Vince is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Anna; his sister Dolores Parker and brother Ronald of Llewelyn, PA; his three children Vincent Siminitus with his wife Jacquelyn Siminitus of San Mateo, CA, Nancy Franckowiak with her husband Frank Franckowiak of Reading, PA and Janet Harner with her husband Brad Harner of York, PA; his five grandchildren Michael and Lisa Siminitus, and Steven, Scott and Mark Harner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing for friends and family will be held at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading on March 13th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle R.C. Church at 420 Holland Street in Shillington, PA, with the burial service to follow immediately at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road in Reading.
