Vincent "Jim" Scalese, 88, of Wernersville, died February 13, 2012 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Annabelle (Reber) Scalese, to whom he would have been married for 65 years in May.

Born April 13, 1923 in Kent, OH, he was a son of the late John and Santa (Lamachia) Scalese.

Jim was a 1941 graduate of Wilson High School and a 1947 graduate of Wyomissing Polytechnical Institute.

He was employed as a plant manager with Rockwell International for 37 years, retiring in 1982.

Jim was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. While there, he revieced 7 bronze stars in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and an Air Medal Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Bronze Cluster.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ronald J., husband of Karen (Jacobs) Scalese of Sinking Spring.

Other survivors include a brother, Thomas of Sinking Spring, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Jim was predeceased by a son, Mark J. Scalese who died December 27, 1991, six brothers and one sister.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6:30-8:00 and Saturday from 9:00 until the time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township.
