Vincent J. Pizzo

Vincent J. Pizzo, 86, of Perry Township died June 9th in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center. His wife Anna (Heckman) Pizzo died February 21, 2008. Vincent was born in Reading and was the son of the late Nicola and Giovanna (Miccike) Pizzo. He was employed as a truck driver for Windsor Service Asphalt for 22 years retiring in 1981. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a Purple Heart recipient being wounded in Cassino, Italy. He was a POW for 6 months in Italy. His memberships included the Shartlesville Fire Company, Disabled Veterans of Reading, VFW Post 378 of Reading and American Legion Post 523 of Hamburg. Vincent is survived by a son, James husband of Barbara Pizzo, Reading, a good friend, Melvin Brown, Perry Township, 4 grandchildren, Michael Pizzo, Melissa wife of Todd Fuoco and Matthew and Mark Pizzo and 5 great grandchildren and 1 sister Jeanette wife of Chris Buchele of Reading. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
