Vincent A. Iannucci, 82, of Lincoln Park, died March 9, 2010 in Reading Hospital.

His wife Mary (Skias) Iannucci died in 1992.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Joseph N. and Caterina (Della Ratta) Iannucci.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII.

Vincent graduated from Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute in 1950 and completed his apprenticeship program in 1952 as a draftman in the engineering department of the Textile Machine Works. He also attended the Pennsylvania State University, North Carolina State University School of Textiles and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In 1975 he was promoted to Chief Engineer for Braiding/Winding Division of Rockwell International, retiring in 1988 in this capacity.

During his career, he was awarded twenty-five United States patents, most of which were also filed in foreign countries, amounting to approximately one hundred and fifty foreign patents. The patents covered the fields of: automatic telephone dialers, dispensing machines, packaging machines, yarn texturing, automatic yarn winding machines, heavy industrial machines, bobbin winding machines, braiding machines and spiral winding machines. He was responsible for the development and commercialization of eleven new products for Textile Machine Works/Rockwell International.

He authored two technical papers one of which resulted in being selected 1963's national first prize winner for Excellence in Design from the James F. Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation. The second paper was presented to the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society.

In 1956 he was instrumental in organizing the Schuylkill Valley Chapter of the American Society of Tool Engineers in Reading and was honored as its first Chairman. He was listed in Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in Technology Today publications. In 1986 he was a nominee for the Rockwell Engineer of the year award. He was a Charter Board Member of the Berks Campus-Pennsylvania Alumni Association. He is also a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association. Additionally, he has been active in a number of civic activities including being on the Board of Directors for the Italian/American Research Center at Alvernia College.

Vincent is survived by his sister, Lina, widow of Rocco Quaglio; and two nieces, Patricia, wife of Charles Farina, Jr. and Gloria, wife of Michael Gombar and one nephew, Philip, husband of Cathy Macaronis, all of Reading; and a loving companion, Maryann P. Petrosky, Sinking Spring.

He was predeceased by two infant children: Joseph V. and Cathy Ann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.
