Vincent C. Mcdevitt

Vincent C. McDevitt, 82, of Exeter Township, died October 5, 2016, at Berkshire Center.

His wife, Carol M. (Palm) McDevitt, died on May 23, 1998.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Nathaniel and Anna (Haas) McDevitt.

He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1951 and attended Ursinus College.

Vincent was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a member of St Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Reading and Allentown. Vincent was also a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

Vincent was employed by Firestone. He later worked for Exide Technologies.

He is survived by two children: Vincent P., husband of Karen McDevitt, Douglassville; and Beverly A. McDevitt; two siblings: Gerald "Duke" McDevitt, Reading; and Helen, wife of Joseph Mitchell, Willow Street. Six grandchildren: Carol; Vincent; Stephen; Mary; James; and John also survive him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena R.C. Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA 19606. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the church. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 237 Court St., Reading, PA 19601. Edward J.
