Victor S. Underkoffler, 90, formerly of Cumru Township, passed away December 23, 2012 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, surrounded by his loving daughters.

His wife of 67 years, Mary Jane (Copestick) Underkoffler, died August 14, 2011.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Jay S. and Florence (Samsel) Underkoffler.

Victor was a graduate of Boyertown High School and attended Drexel University. He graduated from University of Penn and earned his master's degree from Temple University.

He worked as a nuclear physicist for Leeds & Northrop and retired in 1992 from Gilbert Associates, Inc.

Victor was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII under Gen. Patton in the 3rd Army. He partook in the covert mission of the best kept secret of WWII, the proximity fuze and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was later involved with the Berks County Veteran's Administration and was a Revolutionary War reenactor with the 2nd PA regiment.

Victor was an avid reader, enjoyed tennis and computers and operated a ham radio under the handle K3NPH.

He was a member of St. Benedict's R.C. Church, Mohnton.

He is survived by three daughters: Margaret Mayberry, Philadelphia, Kathleen Maier, Barto and Joan Tardie, Yucaipa, CA. Also surviving is his brother, Robert, husband of Norma Underkoffler, Mt. Laurel, NJ. Six grandchildren: Michael Young, Kristin Ludovico, Jeffrey, husband of Terri Kuklinski, Brian, husband of Carrie Kuklinski, Laura, wife of Glenn Thayne and Rick JR Mayberry and seven great-grandchildren: Taylor Floyd, Mia Kuklinski, Kaelyn Kuklinski, Justin Ludovico, Joshua Ludovico, the twins, Aiden and Dylan Kuklinski also survive him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Rd., Mohnton, PA 19540. Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Robeson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. BOX 758517, Topeka KS 66675. Edward J.
