Victor Amos Kroninger, Jr., 93, died in his home in Blandon on January, 10, 2025. Born in Shillington, he was the son of Victor, Sr. and Anna (Grammes) Kroninger. He was married on June 19, 1960 to Jeanean Yakubecek of Egypt, PA.
Victor was a graduate of Shillington High School, '49, Muhlenberg College, '53, and The Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, '56. He served parishes in Bethlehem, Pottstown, Philadelphia, and Robesonia. In retirement, he assisted at Ziegels Lutheran Church, Breinigsville.
He also served terms as president of Reading Area Council of Churches, Conrad Weiser Rotary Club, and Conrad Weiser Ministerium and was an active board member of Good Shepherd Home in Allentown and Berks County Chapter for Retarded Citizens.
In 1994, he received the MVP award from the American Motorcycling Association "In recognition of valuable contributions in the interest of motorcycling". His joy was to treat seniors to motorcycle mini-rides. His claim to fame was John Updike's reference to him as "the preacher's son, bombing around town on a motorcycle" in John's novel, Rabbit Run. He enjoyed youth ministry and took many teen groups on bicycle overnight ventures….notably Lancaster County, Philadelphia, and once with Ziegels youth in Manhattan. In his later years, he led his family band, Psalm 150, in singing "A New Song", across two synods.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanean, three sons: Mark, Sinking Spring, Matt, Blandon, and John, husband to Stacey (Bahn) Kroninger, Granby, CT; three grandchildren: Rachel, Noah and Tyler; and sister, Anne (Kroninger) Rice, Whitehall.
