Victor Familia Rodriguez

Victor Familia Rodriguez, 83, of Reading, passed away in his home on Sunday, June 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Carmen Morel Familia for 33 years.

He was born in San Pedro, Dominican Republic, to the late Ramon Familia Reyes and Ofelina Rodriguez. After his father's death when he was a baby, Victor was raised by the late Plasido Soriano. He first worked for Coca-Cola in D.R. before immigrating to the United States where he then worked in cast iron production until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Reading where he was baptized.

Victor loved watching baseball, playing dominos, and gardening. Possessing a true green thumb, he grew many vegetables, and his tomatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers were particularly noteworthy. Victor especially loved to provide and care for his family.

Left to treasure Victor's member is his wife, Carmen; his children, Sujeidis Familia (Jorge Toribio) and Victor M. Familia, both of Reading; his stepdaughter, Ana Varela of Northampton; and his grandchildren, Azulauris Pozo, Alieel Pozo, and Brianna Michelle Toribio. Victor is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Nieve, Melida, Danielle, Nelson, Raphael, Marina, Mercedes, and Merilo, as well as his nieces, nephews, and their families.

He was predeceased by his brother, Jose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1018 N 8th Street, Reading, PA 19604, with committal to follow at Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611, with vigil service at 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
