Vernon H. Forney

Vernon H. Forney, 82, of Muhlenberg Township, died May 1, 2012 in ManorCare Laureldale.

He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Bryan) Forney, whom he married 32 years ago on August 31, 1979.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Howard M. and Elizabeth H. (Keffer) Forney.

He was a graduate of Girard College, Philadelphia.

Vernon was employed by Carpenter Technologies, Inc., Textile Machine Works and retired from Gilbert Associates as a senior project expeditor in 1991.

He enjoyed traveling and was involved in an amature journalism club.

Vernon was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Reading.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his step-son, Barry L. Kerschner, Muhlenberg Township; his step-grand-daughter, Valerie M. Kerschner, Wyomissing and his five nieces and nephews.

Vernon was predeceased by his brother, John J. Forney and his step-son, William W. Kerschner.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale. A viewing will be 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mohnsville Cemetery. Online condolences may be recorded at www.christfuneralhome.com.
