Dede Leitz, 70, of Caernarvon Township, passed away on August 28, 2024 at Reading Hospital. Born in Steubenville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John H. Dickson, Sr., and Betty Jane (Rightnour) Dickson. Dede shared 49 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, Stephen Leitz.
Following her graduation from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, Plymouth Meeting, in 1972, Dede attended the Franklin Institute of Science and Arts, Philadelphia, where she obtained a two-year degree. In her early career, she was an x-ray technician, yet her most cherished role was that of a mother.
Dede's beliefs and her church held significant meaning in her life. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Dede had a big heart and a passion for life. She radiated warmth and friendliness. Dede's affection for her family was immense, and she loved hosting family gatherings and bringing people together. In her free moments, she enjoyed researching her family's heritage, connecting with her loved ones, cooking, and shopping. Dede is cherished by her family and friends, and will be sorely missed.
In addition to her spouse, Dede is survived by her children: Bradley Leitz, Jeffrey Leitz, husband of Christina Sullivan, Timothy Leitz, and Julie Leitz Jacobsen, wife of Brad; her grandchildren: Adrienne, Brooklyn, Cali, and Nicholas; and her siblings: Dawn Dickson, John Dickson, husband of Louise, Adam Dickson husband of Michiko, and Joseph Dickson, husband of Donna.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 3344 Reading Crest Ave, Reading, PA 19605. Friends and family will be received from 9:30am to 10:45 am. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
