Verna Hinkle

Verna (Correnti) Hinkle, 87, died in Reading Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday morning April 19, 2012.

She was the wife of Donald I. Hinkle, Sr., Shillington. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on April 8, 2012.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Lucia (Calatabiano) Correnti.

She was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle, R.C. Church, Shillington.

Verna loved being around her family, baking cookies, bowling, Ocean City, NJ and her "lunch bunch". She and her husband enjoyed traveling the world. Taking care of her family was her passion and she will be missed dearly by all who loved her.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Donald Jr., Shillington; daughter, Cindy Legezdh, wife of George, Cumru Township; two granddaughters: Jessica Shelak, Laureldale and Jenny Long, Cumru Township and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters: Josephine, Berks Heim and Mildred (Nan) Barbon, Exeter and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Church, 420 Holland St., Shillington, PA 19607. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: St. John's Church at the above address.
