Verna H. (Meck) Dietrich, 96, formerly of Wynnewood, died October 21st at 8:35 am in her apartment at the Heatherwood Retirement Community, Honey Brook, Chester County, where she had been since October 1999.
She was the widow of Harry A. Dietrich, who died April 26, 2001.
Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Oswin and Olivia (Hauseman) Meck.
She was a graduate of Kutztown High School and Kutztown Normal School.
Dietrich was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ardmore.
She was a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Worthy Matron of both the East Penn Chapter O.E.S. in Kutztown and Friendship Chapter O.E.S. in Ardmore.
Dietrich also served as the District Deputy in Rainbow Girls for 25 years in suburban Philadelphia.
She worked as a school teacher for over 40 years, starting in a one-room schoolhouse in Temple, Berks County and ending in Philadelphia at her retirement in 1965.
Dietrich is survived by two daughters, Peggy A. (Dietrich) widow of Ramon Enriquez, of Louisville, Kentucky and Nancy J. (Dietrich) wife of Philip Anders of Malvern, Pennsylvania.
Other survivors include a sister, Arlene (Meck) widow of James S. Crawford of Boca Raton, Florida.
There are five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Viewing Tuesday 9:30 am until time of service. Burial will be in Zion Moselem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 415 East Athens Avenue, Ardmore, Pa 19003 or to the East Penn Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, c/o Joyce Rohrbach, 60 S. Baldy St., Kutztown, Pa 19530.
