Vaughn Grant Brayton

Vaughn Grant Brayton, 93, of Sinking Spring, passed away December 3, 2024, at The Highlands Skilled Nursing.

He was the loving husband of Caryle G. (Hoffman) Brayton.

Born in Homer, NY, he was the son of the late Grant and Pearl Brayton.

He was a graduate of Marywood University where he earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education.

He was employed by Conrad Weiser School District where he taught 6TH grade students for 27 years, Quaker Maid Kitchens Inc, and also Dana Corporation.

Vaughn was a gardener, a committed and industrious individual, showcasing exceptional talent as a carpenter. He crafted various items, including guitars, violins, an aircraft, a sailboat, and a catamaran. He earned his pilot's license, enjoyed attending OshKosh Fly ins, and camping with his Airstream travel trailer. He loved aviation since his youth when the barnstormers landed their planes at a local farm and negotiated for the use of a field as a temporary runway from which to stage an air show and offer airplane rides.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Robert G. Fetter, Fleetwood and Vincent L. Fetter, Reading; two grandchildren, Jeremy Fetter and Joleen Schwartz; many cousins; and his beloved dog, Britt.

He was predeceased by his sister, Maxine Pearl Finley and his brother, Donald Brayton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11:00 am, at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609. Burial will be at Charles Evans Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 10:30 to 11:00 am at the church.
