V. Theora Denaro

V. Theora "Teddi" Denaro, 76, of Bern Township, passed away April 14, 2012 in the Reading Hospital surrounded by family.

She was the wife of Joseph I. Denaro. They recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.

Raised in Bernville, but a graduate of Reading High School, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Marberger and Verle Marberger (nee Whitacre).

A graduate of Drexel University, Teddi was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She received a Golden Rose for 50 years of membership in that organization.

She was a buyer for Pomeroy's Department Store until retiring in the early 1960's to raise her family. She attended Victory Baptist Church, Reading, PA.

Teddi was a devoted volunteer for many local charities. Some of her favorite organizations included the Reading Area Panhellenic, for which she was a past president, the Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County, for which she was a long-time board member, and the Reading Public Museum, for which she was the leader of the tour guides.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Mark Denaro, and wife, Donna, of Bensalem, PA; and Susan Denaro, and husband, John Cullen, Jr., of Wyomissing, PA.

There are four grandchildren: Jeanne Denaro, Melanie Denaro, Lucy Denaro and Joseph Cullen.

She is also survived by a sister, Nola Gustafson, wife of John Arthur Gustafson, Western Springs, IL.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Victory Baptist Church or the Reading Public Library in memory of Teddi Denaro.
